WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis to help one reach a state of focused concentration where positive suggestions or habit alterations are delivered to the subconscious mind. When a person is in this state of focused concentration, the subconscious mind can be accessed and affected, allowing positive messages to be delivered, habits to be altered, emotions to be reached, and changes to be made to improve one's health and well being.

THE MIND operates in two ways, the conscious state and the subconscious state. Our conscious mind  is  where  our  reasoning  and  logic  take
place.

Our subconscious mind is where the
autonomic nervous system activities take place (breathing, heart beat, metabolism etc.) as well as where our memories and emotions are stored.  The term subconscious is often misused in society today due to its extreme complexity and the extensive number of functions that it controls.  The term has become so confusing that often medical science will only refer to it through the various parts of the brain that control it, such as the hypothalamus, the autonomic nervous system,  limbic system etc. However, the conscious and the subconscious minds can most readily be described using common terms of today that make them much less mysterious.

THE COMPUTER is a perfect likeness of the conscious and subconscious minds. Your every day PC or laptop consists of a hard drive and software. The hard drive operates in the background, ensuring the operation of the computer without any interaction from the user. This type of operation is how the subconscious mind works. The conscious mind, however, is more like the software of a computer. The software handles calculations and other such activity and does what the user tells it to do. The conscious mind reasons, analyzes, calculates, and works in the foreground just like software on a computer.

JUST AS VIRUSES AFFECT A COMPUTER, MENTAL VIRUSES AFFECT THE CONSCIOUS AND SUBCONSCIOUS MINDS. Viruses in a computer work on the software which formerly we compared to the conscious mind. However, these viruses are piggyback items that actually attach to the software to wreak their havoc. In that manner, they work in the background even though they are attached to the foreground workings. In the conscious and subconscious minds, viruses can affect either mind. Examples of viruses in our mind are negative self talk, phobias instilled from traumatic events, or other mental issues that work against our health and well being. Viruses can show themselves through bad habits, unhealthy cravings, self-dislike, negative self-talk or even just a nagging voice in the back of  your mind that constantly undermines your goals and happiness.

HYPNOTHERAPY WORKS LIKE A COMPUTER VIRUS CLEANING PROGRAM. Through the use of hypnosis, an individual is put into a state of focused concentration and then these negative "viruses" can be removed or reprogrammed into positive replacements. Hypnotherapy also then acts as a virus protection system, helping the individual to protect the new programming so that it does not again become infected and also by recognizing potential problem areas and reprogramming them before they become ingrained negative situations or habits.

ABOUT SUZANNE SILVER HYPNOTHERAPIST
Suzanne received her certification and training in Scientific Hypnotherapy from The Hypnosis Foundation and EEG Hypnosis Institute in 2007. She was personally trained by renowned Hypnotherapist Tom Silver.

Suzanne's passion and desire is to help physically challenged clients to lose weight, eat healthy foods and to increase motivation to exercise. Suzanne also is certified in E.R.T. Here's what Suzanne says about her life and the transformations that have occurred over the past years.

"Over six years ago at the age of 41, I was the epitome of living an unhealthy lifestyle. I worked in an extremely stressful field, slept fitfully, never exercised, and literally ate quarter pound hamburgers and french fries every day. My life and health were far from good, but I had no desire to change or made any effort at doing so.  And then my habits caught up with me.  I was diagnosed with breast cancer".

"I was lucky--my cancer diagnosis came at the earliest stage feasible of catching cancer. Apparently, the only area of my health that I was managing well was in getting my yearly mammograms. But the surgery and radiation were painful and exhausting, and I finally realized that I needed to change my ways, or more than likely, would never see my daughter grow up.
